I’m a bit of a crazy dog mom. From making sure Summit gets enough off-leash time in the morning, to belly rubs at night, I just want the best for our little pup.
This is especially true when it comes to his health and diet.
Before we brought Summit home, I did extensive research into the best diets for dogs and let me tell you, not only is there an abundance of information out there but also a ton of conflicting opinions. After scouring through all the information we could find and consulting our vet, Tim and I ultimately decided that feeding Summit a whole and balanced diet, with real, fresh foods mixed in would be best. Besides, if Tim and I are eating wholly why shouldn’t he?
While Summit does still get the occasional “kibble” (he’s been on Nutro brand since he was a pup), his food bowl is mainly comprised of Ollie, eggs, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Since I also only typically give him organic treats, I’ve started experimenting more and more with making my own! For this past round, I decided to make frozen ‘pup-sicle’ bites and boy, oh boy does Summit eat these up!

To make these I combined 3/4 cup peanut butter with 6 fresh strawberries and one banana in my Magic Bullet. I also added a little less than 1/4 cup of water to help make it easier to pour the mixture into the silicone molds (you could also use beef or chicken stock if you have it handy, I just happened to be out). I let them set overnight and bam! not only a super easy recipe but Summit absolutely loves them!
Another pro?! You really could test any flavor combos your dog loves. Summit’s been really into blueberries and watermelon as of late, so I might just have to try those next!
This mixture filled my molds, which you can find on Amazon and yielded 44 little bites.
Hope they enjoy!
