I don't know about other moms, but the pressure was real for me to figure out the perfect costume for Aveline. Tim and I had a few different ideas, many of which didn't include us (Halloween 2020 is a bit unusual in these Covid times), but after chatting it through, we knew we wanted to make it a family affair. Covid hit NY right as we were welcoming our daughter into the world and with parental leave and our lease renewal coinciding, we decided to take the opportunity to leave the city and spend time closer to family. It's been weird being away from Brooklyn, but after renting a house, hard to imagine going back to a 900 square foot apartment. Regardless of where we end up once this is all over, we've been embracing home rentership, inclusive of adding our own little touches to make it really feel like home. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, so I'm ...

Whether you're looking for some new options for your child's toy rotation or an easy gift, these picks haven't failed us yet. Behind the Name: Aveline Grace
To preface this, naming a kid is hard ya’ll. Between associating names to people from the past, to potential horrible nicknames, to just plain disdain, it’s a miracle any of us have names! Like any rationally minded person, I’ve been collecting baby names since I was probably 20 years old. Anytime, I stumbled upon one I loved I would save it to a notepad list on my phone to ensure it wouldn’t be something I’d forget. Over the years I had collected well over 40+ names, going back every once and awhile and removing ones that had gotten too popular (RIP Harper and Liam :( ). I still had my favorites but when I got pregnant and Tim and I sat down to go through them, the list started to dwindle and quickly. Luckily we did agree on ...
Broccoli Cheddar Quiche
Over the weekend, we celebrated Timothy's first Father's Day! Since it was going to be one of those 'once in a lifetime' milestones, I wanted to make sure it was really special. His mom and I sat down to strategize a menu and came up with the perfect plan. Originally, we were going to have an all out food extravaganza on Saturday but once we looked at everything we had, decided to split it out over the course of two days. On Saturday, we made an array of sausages (brats, kielbasas, chorizos), with sauerkraut, beer onions, my roasted summer corn salad, and a homemade key lime pie for dessert. Then on Sunday, we planned for scallops in a brown butter sauce with parmesan crisps. It would be the best of both worlds and I knew Tim ...

To read our full disclosure policy, please click here. It's hard to believe that just three short months ago, we were bringing our little Aveline home for the very first time. So much has happened over the past twelve weeks and looking back, it all feels a bit surreal. Living in Brooklyn, pre-baby and pre-pandemic, Tim and I opted not to have a baby shower. We were one of the last of our friends to have a child and graciously received a number of beautiful hand-me-downs and loaners. When we glanced over the typical baby gift registry we felt we were pretty well prepared and ...
