We’ve been giving Summit, whole, real foods, since the moment he first entered our lives. Along with his usual Ollie (read more on our experience here), he loves to nibble on carrots, cucumbers, blueberries, strawberries… the list goes on and on. So when it comes to giving Summit treats, while I do have a few store bought brands I love (check out Old Mother Hubbard), a lot of times it’s just as easy to make my own!
Case in point, these pumpkin carrot yogurt bites.

With just three ingredients, these are so simple to whip up and freeze in no time. As mentioned in this post, while yogurt is good for dogs, greek yogurt in particular can be much easier for them to digest, as some dogs may be lactose intolerant. You also always want to stick with plain varieties as flavored yogurts tend to have added sugars or xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
Canned pumpkin is also great for dogs diets. It’s high in fiber and vitamins which aid in their digestive health. Just be sure to be giving them plain canned pumpkin and not the pumpkin pie varietal as again, it could contain added sugars or xylitol.
To be safe, before giving your pet any new foods, consult your vet and always read your labels!
